Yeah, and if I could move the chapter progress back to the footer, I'd update and mess around with it.
For now though, I have 4.15 exactly how I like it. It is stable and none of the new features is a compelling enough reason to update. Maybe one day I will, but for now I just don't see the need. |

Re: Backlight Bug Aura HD
4.14 is the last release where this was working properly. Perhaps on the surface it's a minor annoyance, but I see it as an unnecessary battery drain on the device. Recreation steps are simple: - With the backlight off, power down or allow the device to power itself down. - Start the device by sliding the red switch. - When it comes on the backlight will be on at it's lowest setting, and the backlight indicator will have a slash across it indicating the light is off. - If you try to increase the light intensity by sliding your finger up the side of the screen it won't work. - To turn off the light you need to turn it on by the black button, then turn the backlight off. |

The problem with having the chapter progress on the bottom is that we then would have to have the page numbers at the top. The page numbers belong at the bottom and that leaves the top for the chapter progress. This isn;t ever going to change (IMHO) and the thing is, you either get used to it or stay on 4.15 forever. |

![]() That's because it's impossible to have a backlight with eInk. You have to have a front light. ![]() |

Question, to clarify.. I've seen a few posts where you, (or someone) explicitly mentions Power Off, (or power Down.). Do you mean Sleep mode? or do you have to actually power off the device to trigger this?

Kobo easily could have allowed for this level of customization, why they opted not to is anyone’s guess, however one “answer” that can absolutely be eliminated is that there’s some sort of standard requiring page numbers go in a particular place on a page. |

I really miss the dropdown menu in the upper lefthand corner while reading a book.

I know Kobo could have made opens for where the page numbers and chapter info go.But they didn't They kept to the standard page numbers at the bottom and that left the chapter info at the top. |

So do I. I find it rather annoying to have to go back to the main menu and then to the book list or collection list. This was a really bad idea to remove the hamburger menu in the upper right when displaying an eBook.

Just because previous ereaders have done it, does not mean it needs to be done that way. You are entitled to your opinion, however your opinion is not fact. And literal centuries of books demonstrate that it is just a matter of design for where page numbers go. |

However, Marvin (for example) for iOS has a customizable bit at the bottom of the page. You can have what you want and you can even have different things on odd/even pages. But the problem here is Kobo is sticking to what's been working for a long time. Before now, I have not read of one person asking for the page numbers in an eBook Reader to be move to the top instead of staying at the bottom. |
