Kobo is 4.4.9344 (6f700792a0, 5/16/17)

PC is Windows 7 home premium, 64bit and 2nd computer is the same.
On PC in Control Panel, Devices & printers, I can see it appear when I plug in the USB lead as "eReader 4.4.9344"

And when I look at properties for that it says " manufacturer : Challenger Backup Solutions, LLC"

Challenger Backup Solutions, LLC is something you have installed. It's nothing to do with Kobo.

Look in the Windows add/remove in the control panel.

With the newer updates I can't turn off (0 %) the backlight with the left edge gesture. Adjustment of the backlight is only possible between 1 % and 100 % via the gesture. Is anybody else able to confirm that?

Thank you?

Running on 4.4.9344 and Glo HD

That's a known problem that has been extensively discussed here (you can translate that as "complained about a lot"). Kobo know about it. Hopefully it ill be fixed in the next firmware release.

As some others have said, I kinda hope they don't fix that bug (if indeed it is one). I like that I can't accidentally shut off the light entirely with the slider. It's hard to turn it back on when reading in the dark.

I do hope that they do address the sleepcover light issue, though.

When the problem was reported I could see it might have been deliberate change and asked Kobo. I was told it was an error.

They know about it and are working on it.

Hi guys,

Do you know if night mode plugin is included in kobo is 4.4.9344 ? if it's ok, does it run with a long press on the light button on a GLO not HD?

There is no night mode plugin included in any Kobo firmware. Kobo doesn't use plugins, or at least doesn't use them in the way other applications do.

There is a night mode, or screen invert, that can be enable via a config option. But, it's always on.

There is also a night mode hack that can be installed. There's a thread in the developers forum about it. I don't use it, but I haven't heard that it doesn't work.

And as Jon said, there is a later firmware version, 4.5.9587. Unless downloading books using the browser, or you use kepubs on the SD card, I would recommend going to it.
