epub capabilities

As a financial contributor, I was wondering when the epub functionality is expected to become available. I realize there is currently some beta testing taking place.

Hopefuly in the next couple of weeks there will be an initial implementation of a command line client (most of the code is already done, I just have to find the time to tie it together and test it).

b9 works perfectly and I am now able to transfer files to the device.

Thank you very much for such a speedy solution!

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but where can I find b9 to download it?

And thanks for sorting this so quickly - much appreciated!

Installing b9 now, and will see if the crashes of b8 are gone. (multiple import was crashing on me, was about to file a report when I saw b9 is out)

Also, performance is pretty slow: I imported a pile of lits (blackmask dvd), and once 10K files were in the library, it crawled. An author sort was taking minutes to complete.

Once b9 is installed, I'll report back.

Ok, still crashing in b9, same as in b8:

expected string or buffer
Detailed traceback:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "main.py", line 445, in add_recursive_multiple
File "main.py", line 419, in add_recursive
File "calibre\library\database.pyo", line 1530, in recursive_import
File "calibre\library\database.pyo", line 1484, in import_book_directory_multiple
File "calibre\ebooks\metadata\meta.pyo", line 46, in metadata_from_formats
File "calibre\ebooks\metadata\meta.pyo", line 85, in get_metadata
File "calibre\ebooks\metadata\__init__.pyo", line 215, in smart_update

File "C:\Program Files\calibre\library.zip\calibre\ebooks\metadata\ opf.py", line 245, in get_title
TypeError: expected string or buffer

I've identified the file it's crashing on (a lit file, not one of the blackmask ones). Let me know if you want it for testing.

Yeah that would be helpful. As for the sorting performance, sorting happens in sqlite C code. Nothing I can do about it.

- the size information in the main window is borky (manual add a file or create a lrf)
- the comments window in the "edit meta-information window" is a little off
- there is no "change language" option in the preferences
- copy&paste from a website to comments, some space characters doesnt show and the links doesnt work

What do you mean by borky? Note that it shows the maximum size of all available formats for a given book.

The comments window has been fixed.

calibre detects your language preference from the operating system. You can control that by environment variables.

Cant do anything about the copy and paste as that happens at toolkit level, and rewriting a text edit dialog is too much work.

Small bug. When you install b9 there is no icon in the calibre.exe file. (using Vista) Was fine before b9. Great additions BTW.

Like I said, it shows the maximum over all formats.
