It is a lot like the old publishers that refused to move from clay tablets to paper for their books. They saw sales drop off. Maybe Tor will follow through with what they said and publish ebooks, maybe they won't and whoever picks up the pieces of Tor will release them in ebook form. The future choices are their choices.

Make the offer. Why not, what's to lose? It would be wonderfully ironic. MobileRead to the rescue! Make it official, not in a thread on the non-TOR TOR site. Write an email or letter to Baen and TOR management. We're so eager for this to work, we offer our services.

You could try contacting Arnold Bailey of Webwrights... some people on Baen's Bar are speculating that he now has to upgrade his infrastructure and possibly hire more people to handle Tor's more extensive book output. So maybe he could use some people actually used to working with ebooks. BTW he's abailey here on forums.

I think igorsk is probably right. Unless he has upgraded his systems significantly Arnold may not have the bandwidth or server resources to handle the Tor side of things as well as his existing commitments. I know there have been past issues with his connection that have interfered with both Webscriptions and the Bar. So I would think it's best to see how things work out. |

Having a monopoly is not illegal. It is using one monoploy to gain another that is illegal. |

So why was AT&T broken up for being a monopoly?

Tactics like giving Terry Goodkind a Kindle and not letting him know about the competition before his signing the contract is quite shifty (IMHO). It significantly impairs other firms from competing for sales of his eBooks.

Remember a copyright is a government-granted monopoly, not subject to anti-trust regulations. It's competition is other copyrights and expired PD materials.

But as I've said in another post, if you don't first buy a Kindle, Amazon will not even sell you a Kindle ebook.
