Will you be getting the new Kindle Oasis?

Nope for me. I'd glady pay $300-500 for a top of the line high quality ereader but this is a step back in time. Big, awkward, and physical buttons?!? No increase in processor speed, or reducing page refresh flashes, same screen size, same resolution, and worse battery life of any Kindle I can remember (I don't use cases). I don't get it.

I said maybe because I am crazy about Kindles. But I have yet to find any new feature on Oasis that appeal to me, over and above the existing models. I find the lights on the Paperwhite and Voyage to be very satisfactory, the lightness does not appeal to me either as the difference between 180g (Voyage) and 130g (Oasis) is less than a pack of crisps. I have happily held various 180g devices (Aura for example) for years. I usually read at my desk and use a stand anyway. Then I look again and found that the Oasis with cover weights 238g, and iirc the Voyage with cover also weights ~240g, so out it goes with the lightness argument entirely.

If holding things over >=130g is tiring for whoever is going to buy it, then for these people it is very wrong of Amazon to force them to buy the Kindle+cover as a bundle, as they won't be needing the covers unless they are going to be unable to recharge from the wall for long periods. But these occassions are getting rare, e.g. USB sockets can be found in the seats of many flights.

I voted yes. I have no willpower when it comes to these things I used to upgrade my Kindles when the new model cost over $300 so $289 isn't that shocking.

If I don't like it, I'll send it back.

Comparing PW3 (special offer) and Oasis I noticed only the 3.5x 💵 difference. Everything else is more or less the same. So I will not upgrade.
Without cover Oasis is thin and light but likely still too expensive. A thicker Kindle with a much better screen-to-body ratio (without huge bezels) would be great.

Nope There are only 2 things I actually like about the Oasis: the page turn buttons and the lack of logo on the front. That's it.
Things like thinner/ lighter/ more leds I don't care about
I don't like the cover
I really, really hate the wider bezel on the button side and as I swap holding hand quite often, having to rotate the Kindle every time is going to be very irritating

I like those too !!! it actually makes me consider the oasis as a very far future buy, I was really put off by the touch screens....

I think this would really bug me too. It being thinner & lighter with better lighting appeals to me, and I think the design might make it quite comfortable to hold, so if it wasn't for the price I'd probably consider upgrading. But I frequently read one-handed and swap between hands, and while I guess you'd get used to the rotating, I can imagine it being a bit of a pain.

What I am thinking is, reading books with Oaisi without the cover at home would be nice, because it is lighter. I could charge it a bit before I go to sleep. So, 7 hrs would be good enough.
But I abit worry about the screen size, which is not good for comics, I think.

I agree and I do the same. This design makes little sense to me. They're trying too hard to do something different, but they're not making changes that are actually useful or wanted. Further proof that the people who design Kindles don't actually use them.

I'd say no, but I have to admit a crazy love for ereader.

So who knows ?
If reviews are very positive, I could pull the trigger.
Even if I'm'very happy with my KV.

I said no and then when I saw that I could get it from Best Buy on 4/27 I changed my mind (again) and decided to go for it. Now I am excited for it to arrive. I'm holding on to my Voyage that I love. It will probably be the Kindle that leaves the house with me since it is better protected with a full case and I often read with it using the Origami stand, when eating out by myself, .

I'll tell you about willpower. By the time I ordered the arrival date for the wifi-only had moved out too far for me so I paid an extra seventy dollars and ordered the 3G model.
