I think the people saying "Don't worry, they can't stop pirating" are missing the point. People here are interested in having usable backups and format shifting for other reading devices. We aren't interested in taking a screen shot of every page, or typing in the whole book, or... for every book we own. If we were going to pirate, we wouldn't buy the books in the first place.
So, yes, DRM is never going to stop hard-core pirating. It may stop what most people responding to the poll here want to do, though. Unfortunately, the latter seems to be what the encryption DRM is aimed at stopping. |
