I'm curious too. Does it have any additional functionality beyond what is available via an opds connection in Mantano, Aliko, Moon etc.?

Hope your sister gets bets soon, Blossom. Escaping into a good book is all you can do sometimes.

You only need your PC running when you want to transfer books over. I just start Calibre's wireless device connection and click connect in CC. Once connected you just select the books you want and send to device (I send just ePub). Then once the books are transferred the PC is no longer needed. Each time CC connects it will update any meta data changes you've made in Calibre to any books it has stored without having to resend the books. You can browse books in multiple ways, basically similar to Calibre's methods. I attached some screenshots. One of the library view and then one each narrowed by a specific series, an author and a genre/tag. Lots of CC info here... https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=188899 Last edited by AnemicOak; 12-04-2013 at 10:35 PM. |

Yes, I hope she feels better soon. I remember how difficult it (and my mother) was when she just pneumonia. Hopefully she'll be her normal self in no time.

Oh yeah! I forgot I had almost 400 free coins so I grabbed it. It looks like it might have a little more capability than Mantano's opds connection but it's major advantage might be managing books on a device, especially if you're using multiple reading apps.

OK, after playing with calibre companion for just a few minutes I can see it's much more robust than the built in opds libraries from inside the reading apps. Now I'm going to have to rethink how I store my books on my tablet.

For me it's the closest I've come to being able to realize the whole "portable library" idea in a meaningful way where I can not only store all my books and have them always with me, but actually browse them in multiple ways and find things easily. If that makes sense.

I have no Amazon coins, but won't mind paying $2.99. That seems very reasonable to me.
I put it on my wish list though as I am still on the T's in my complete check and reconvert project and if I install it now I will want to play with it ![]() |

Vent: I have spent the day either covered in cow sh** or fertilizer. I swear if the freaking cows get out one more time, I am going to have fresh beef in my freezer. Really tired of dealing with them.

Now I feel like a dufus. I just spent 30 minutes trying to send a big batch of books from Calibre to my tablet and get it to add them to the Calibre_companion folder via USB. When connected via USB that folder is hidden. BUT, when you connect using wireless instead of content server I can send big batches. Very cool!
Brian, if I change meta data in Calibre does it automatically update in Calibre Companion when I connect or do I need to re-download the book? Edit: It does! It does! Oh now I'm very excited!!! |
