When my Fonts Hack got messed up I uninstalled it using the uninstallxxx.bin but FH still appeared in KUAL and the linkfonts folder was still visible. It seems the uninstaller is not working. Can you please check it? Thanks.
I still repeated the installation process though, and FH is working fine now. |

@MonJovi: It's a feature, not a bug. The uninstaller doesn't touch user content by default, to avoid killing customisations. The snapshots have a KUAL button to switch the uninstaller to 'kill kill kill' mode, that removes everything.

Just hope a way to make custom fonts display on font menu instead of having to override fonts.

@duydangle: there is, it's just overly complex for my tastes, and I haven't had the time/motivation to figure out a way to make it less painful. (See a thread started by ameho for the gory details).

Actually I like Caecilia, Futura and Helvetica, I don't want to put too much time in trying new fonts . Any ideas about bolder version of these fonts? |

@duydangle: I thoroughly hate Helvetica, so I can't help you there
![]() I find Futura bold enough, but I'd wager finding a decent bold sans font won't be very hard. I like Futura, and I'm not a big fan of sans in general, so, again, not much help there ![]() As for Caecilia, you can look at the Google Fonts Directory for other serif slabs, but I'm partial to Museo Slab, FWIW ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 03-10-2014 at 08:03 AM. |

@NiLuJe Thanks for your suggestion. I just removed fonts hack and jailbreak. This time I found that think about choosing a new font is too much time wasted for me

It works well on the books that I bought from Amazon, but for my personal documents uploaded via email(.mobi file) the regular type was replace by italic, and bold was replace by bolditalic. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

BTW how is the "Caecilia Condensed" font actually made ?
It does not exist as a separate font for sure, I had to make my own with FontForge when I wanted to use it in Calibre viewer on my PC. |

@dsmid: AFAICT, from a hardcoded special case inside their freetype implementation (which is why it's the best font to override on FW >= 5.4 if you use a custom FT, since it would look exactly like Caecilia 'classic' in that case).
@chunchunchun: Does the bold/italic/bolditalic styling look consistent in M7 (mobi) files? I'm a bit in the dark when it comes to styling with CJK fonts, so I can't really say much more. Maybe the metadata on your custom font is weird? Try with another one to check? Or you simply might need to be a bit more devious in your FC config, like the special serif/sans cases. You'd have to check how Amazon handle the CJK fonts in their config. Last edited by NiLuJe; 03-13-2014 at 08:44 AM. |

I originally put 4 fonts in fontlink/font: regular/bold/italic/bolditalic style of one font family.(4 font files) I removed three of them, only left the regular one, now the bold appear like regular, the bolditalic appear like italic. will study the FC config... |

@nypaulie: Yup, I'm familiar with it, and while I like it for stuff like headings or UI elements (ie. what Futura is doing on the Kindle, which, incidentally, looks kiinda similar to that one, albeit slimmer and less condensed), it's really not my thing for huge swathes of text
