Prior to 1955 I only purchased Book of the Month Club print books. After 1990 I only purchased Microsoft Reader eBooks. Then I switched in 2007 to Sony eBooks (epub) only. Now I only buy Amazon eBooks. One just has to adjust to the reality of the ever changing eBook market.
I have 2500+ Amazon books in my Archive. I do buy amazon books. You know this as I already mention it in this thread earlier. Buying Amazon books isn't going to solve Pdoc bug problem. I have Prime as well. No interests in Prime's library they have so I get the cheaper prime without it. I have my own local library to get free books from that's what I use Mantano for.

One does not need to adjust to anything. You can read any format epub, mobi, lit, pdf...etc You just need Calibre or Mobipocket Creator and if you have DRM then the special tools. There is no walled garden. It doesn't exist in my world.

I wasn't aware that Prime has a cheaper version. I thought there was just one $79 one.

For Students there is a cheaper version. My husband is a student currently so we went with that instead of the full prime.

I agree. If all this stuff is supposed to work on the KF then they should fix it till it works. I only buy Amazon books so far but the prices are getting high enough that I'm going to want to use whatever they have at the library. And I'm going to want it to work the way it is supposed to.

Amazon eBooks available at the public library

At my Town Public Library they have loaner books in all the formats: Amazon, Nook, Sony, etc. However, they usually only have one or two copies and one must wait a long time to borrow them. Amazon Lending Library eBooks have no waiting time.

At the eBook page on Amazon, they show notices if publishers are inflating prices. One can simply skip those eBooks.

I keep an Excel Spreadsheet showing in decreasing order all my wish list Amazon ebooks by pages per price. I only buy the most pages I can get for a dollar of price. I have 97 eBooks in that spread sheet now ranging from 79.38 pages per dollar down to 14.24 pages per dollar. I'll probably never get to the bottom of that list since it takes a long time to read an 800 to 1,000 page eBook and new ones appear every week.

Right now eBibles are offered as separate Android Apps. Its also possible that each eBook may soon be offered as a separate Android App as well. That would make eBooks compatible with BOTH Nook and Kindle. It would be in the publishers' interest to do that.

I only have one pdoc which contains all my bible notes and was created by me. I don't understand why anyone would have more than few pdocs like that.

I still doubt that Amazon will ever offer easy compatibility with B&N and Sony ePub eBooks. It simply would not be profitable for them to do that unless forced to do so by the government.

I have done detailed price comparisons on the type of eBooks I like (history, war and biography) and Amazon has beaten all competitors on price so far as I have been able to determine.

We have our Holy Quran as a wonderful Android app as well:

http://www.amazon.com/Guided-Ways-Te.../dp/B004XE0H0M

I can see the need for alot of application interactivity in a major religious text that might be used in religious teaching environments particularly with foreign language translations and other features.

But I dont see why every publisher would consider making every book an android app.
Consider that the android OS Like Mac &Windows still has more than one version in wide usage and book publishers would have to constantly keep up with OS compatibility ( ginger bread ,ICS etc etc.) it would add lot of overhead IMHO

Different people have different needs & uses of Pdocs whats not to understand??.

Just tried this and it is not working for me. Covers show up in the Doc folder/shelves but not on the Carousel.

Well, here is another strange observation. I side-load my converted mobis via Calibre and they always appear on the Bookshelf and on the carousel. I recently side-loaded two books and one of them appeared under Documents AND the carousel with cover intact! Nothing was different in the conversion from all my other books. Go figure.

You must open the sideloaded book first having it appear on the carousel before you send it as a pdoc or it wont work.

Hi Blossom. I did open them first. I remember you saying that. The actual sideloaded ones opened and the covers showed up in both places. Then I sent them as pdocs and they show covers in the Docs folder but not on the Carousel. So aggravating.

The actual sideloaded ones show covers both in the Docs folder and the Carousel. It's the same books that I sent as pdocs that don't show the covers in the Carousel.

Has the book been on the fire before? At this point the only way to fix is to clear the Kindle data then once that it is done sync twice. Wait till late at night to do this for a more successful results.
