I have PDF's that lag on the T1 that are smaller than that (no images, just text). I just used Adobe Professional to crop and remove the header/footer from a 1MB PDF and converted it to EPUB in calibre. Now it's much better on the T1!

I wonder if converting to HTML from Adobe Acrobat Pro and *then* converting from HTML to EPUB in Calibre might work also, and preserve the formatting better? I'll try it when I can. And I should hack my T1 and try ezPDF too!
