What I'd like to know is how much in US dollars will the gecko light cover for the PRS-T1 cost and will it be available to get before Christmas?

Once the lighted version is up on the site you can select US $ in the upper right (usually). As for delivery, I ordered a blue Luxe on the 24th - late Thursday, got an email that it was shipped on the 28th - the Monday. I'll let you know when it arrives - should be early next week, I expect.

What I am trying to decide is if I want to get a T1 as a gift and it will need a cover and it's better (IMHO) to get a light cover.

I just hope that Gecko will show a photo of the light cover in the dark. I want to see how good the coverage is. I know how Sony's is because I have the 650 light cover.

Update on these ones - now available to buy from Amazon, but may be cheaper on Navitech's own site (when it's finally up again).

Looks like the cut-out woudl allow access to the Sony buttons - it would stick out a little at the top, and be a little loose at the sides, but the extra depth might help hold it it (Sony: 173x110x8.9; Kindle 165x114x8.6). I wonder why NaviTech are selling these for the Kindle, but not similar ones for the Sony? Doesn't look as if they'd need much adaptation.

More pics of the Gecko covers on their FB page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/GeckoC...09452472469103

Hi,

I am more interested in a sleeve-type case. Has someone tried the rooCase sleeve found here:

http://www.amazon.com/rooCASE-Bubble...l_mb_hu_m_1_dp

Would it work for the T1?

Navi Tech PRS-T1 case

I've checked Amazon reviews of some of their other cases when looking for one for my T1 and all their "leather" seems to be rather cheap synthetic leather. But maybe someone who's got one can say something about that.

Meanwhile I've got the normal Gecko cover and I really like it. The "leather" feels very nice though only time will tell how durable it is.
Ah, well Navi Tech wouldn't be the first to try some fraudulent advertising. I wonder what they're bribing Amazon to fake thier 95% customer satisfaction rate.

It's a shame because I like the design and really much prefer leather.

A sleeve will do you no good when you are using your T1. You'll have no protection at all. Your T1 won't fit if you have a cover on the T1. So really, it's not worth the money (IMHO). A good case will give you protection all the time.

I am not planning on getting a case, I will rather use the reader "naked" as some will say. I just want the sleeve as a carrying case that will fit in my bag, with some level of cushion.

Naked is a reader waiting to be broken. Do you know where you will be reading away from home? Are you sure you won't ever drop it where it lands on a nice hard surface? Sure you'd have some protection in your bag with the sleeve, but one out of the sleeve, you'll have zero level of protection. I just feel it isn't worth the risk.

A lot of people find it easier to hold a reader with a case then it is to hold it naked. I agree. But that is personal opinion.

"real" as opposed to really synthetic leather

After taking a closer look at NaviTechs German offers it turns out that, at least here, it's not actually a misrepresentation at all, just somewhat misleading.

"Napa Leder" doesn't exist and can therefore mean anything or nothing at all. At the very least it would need to be spelled with two Ps. Precisely it would have to be "Nappaleder".

On the other hand "napa leather" refered to in English offers is, or should be, real.

Our cases for the Sony PRS T1 with light will be in stock tomorrow. We will update ASAP a picture which shows how many light the light will give in the dark. We chose 2 led light instead of 1, so it will be a good light source. Keep you updated.

Are the LEDs user replaceable in case either of them go out?

Hi Klein,

The Gecko cases look quite nice, however there are no pictures of the case folded back for reading. Is it possible to fold the front all the way over for single-handed reading, or does it stay open like a book?

If it is possible to fold over and one does so regularly, is there any danger of damaging the case?

Many thanks,
- Micha.

pictures are up on the site.

How long does the light last with the button cell battery?

Not too sure about having the light against the back of the case when closed.

Do you have any pictures that more clearly show how the light is fastened when being used? Maybe a picture from behind the light while it is up.
