What does winning mean? That Apple won't have the fat profits and the mindshare anymore? I don't think that ever happens.

And they fit into my pants' pockets very easily. 7" is a step up, but for books it doesn't make much of a difference. And for newspapers, magazines, etc. a 9-10" device is much much better. So a 7" doesn't offer real portability and it doesn't offer full functionality.
For me a phone screen is too small to do much (I use the original Droid) and a 10" screen is too big to be easily portable. Believe me there is a big difference in screen. My Tab screen is 3 times larger than my Droid screen. The Tab is about the same size as a Kindle but the screen is larger. It's very portable, can't slip it in a pocket but I carry a purse and it easily slips in that.

I don't really read magazines or newspapers anymore since I use Calibre to download the news feeds. Those work well on the Tab plus web surfing works well, too.

I was more disappointed in the large size of the iPad than the lack of features. Too big for me. If I want a 10 inch screen I'd rather pull out a netbook. The Touch is too small but the iPad too big. The Tab is just right. If I could make phone calls with the Tab I'd drop my Droid.

Just my opinion.

Actually it says, could win, It is certainly not a done deal.

Number 2 in the top 5 is that Android needs to get its act together and quit having so many releases without updates requiring upgradability. This is a serious weakness in Android and it is not clear it will be fixed.

the list is by developers, not by users so how applicable is it?

a 7 inch 4:3 screen is great. works quite well for PDFs in landscape mode.

there are rumors of a retina iPad coming in the fall. If it is a 7 inch version, I might bite.

seems possible to me. I can't imagine they'd roll out something to directly compete with the iPad2 so quickly. A 7 inch could be marketed as something different.

I'm planning on getting the best-value 7 inch device available come Xmas time. Looking forward to see what comes out.

IMHO, the "iPad 3" that's rumored to come out this September is going to be an iPod Touch XL. A 6" (or so) iPod touch. It will not be marketed as a iPad Nono. It will sport the same number of pixels (and therefore less resolution, but still very nice) as the iPod Touch/iPhone. No new apps need be written for it.

It will just run the iPod/iPhone apps on a bigger screen, and will be marketed as an iPod Touch.
