Canceling my Sony order

I just read the Cybook is going to be available starting in September. I would much rather have one of those, so I am going to cancel my Sony Reader order, cancel the Sony card, and wait 2 or 3 months for the Cybook. I have been reading off a PDA for 2 years, I can do it for another few months.

I ordered my reader on the 15th. So I can't understand why earlier orders still have not been processed. Then again we are dealing with sony...

Now: 100 Classics, $199 value. Expires 30 Sep.

Ethical Dilemma: I ask again, is anyone considering buying the eReader retail, getting the $50 credit, then just returning the one from Rewards when they finally ship? I think I'll be doing just that this weekend.
Of course, if you don't get your reader in time to return it or you get the OLD box vs the new box, you may end up with two readers.

Talking Sony email received

Thank you for your recent Sony Rewards order. Your order has shipped! Please note that items may ship separately.

Please do not respond to this email. If you need to contact us, please e-mail customer service via the Contact link at the bottom of the Sony Rewards website.

@mechchic:

Call customer service, and have them give you a trouble ticket number. At least then when they give you the runaround, you can refer them to your # for followup.

WooHoo!

Finally, some respect is shown to the Great Old One.

You are all welcome in advance for receiving your shipping confirmations: obviously, SONY Rewards did not wish to incur my wrath, knowing that I would sick the colour out of Space on them.

(Regardless of reality or what anyone says, I am going to take credit for the spate of shipping confirmations because of my irate call to SONY Rewards)
;-)

I too received my confirmation, and eagerly await my Reader's arrival in R'lyeh.

@ Lov@Read:

Rather than cancelling your order and card, I would counsel you to wait for the Reader, pay $69.54, and then perhaps sell it here at an incredibly reduced rate to another member, possibly an un-American who is not eligible for the card, but no less eager to possess such eldritch technology.

Thanks for letting us know they're actually shipping. I'm a week or so behind you guys but it will be easier waiting knowing they're actually going out.

Unless of course they run out before getting to me.

Cthulhu! Oh great and sleepy one who lies quiescent in ancient R'lyeh! Do not allow this insignificant mortal irritation to rouse you from your slumber in your South Sea abode. We mere mortals fear your rising from the Sea to wreak your horrid havoc on the Earth for this minor sin! Do not force us to invoke Nyarlathotep to curse Sony and all its environs to assuage your mighty wrath!

Allow your mighty rage to pass oh great one!

Heh, didn't think about that!

But I did just get my shipping confirmation. The email has a time of 2:06am. Maybe they were doing a FILO (First In, Last Out.)

Now if they can get it to us by next Tuesday.

Same here. I woke up early, got on the computer to get the number for Sony customer service, checked my e-mail, and had an e-mail from 2:03 AM that said it has shipped. I called Sony and they said it went out yesterday, and it is too late to cancel.

Is it wrong of me to not be very excited because I am now looking forward to the Cybook in September, with its second-generation ink and features I like more than what the Reader has??

Cthulhu,
Good idea. If my spouse does not want it, I will indeed consider your idea.

I am still waiting. Granted, I only ordered mine a week ago, but all of these shipping confirmations are making me impatient. I just want my Reader!

Well I called Sony Rewards to see if they would be able to provide a tracking number. The CS rep told me that there isn't any tracking number because it was sent by regular postal mail. He informed me that they don't ship FedEx when the address provided is close to a warehouse. I then told him that I got the reader in response to a special promotion stateing that I would receive $150.00 in book credit. His reply was " well I think that promotion has expired and is no longer available" I then corrected him by telling him that the promotion didn't end until 7/31/07. to which his reponse was "oh, well it should be there in three business days call us back if not there by Tuesday".

I guess I'll just wait it out. With my luck I'll end up recieving it on Wednesday. Althought can't complain too much, still got the reader for an amazing price.

What format do you get at Fictionwise that the Sony Reader supports? None of those listed seem to be for the Sony. Or do you do conversion magic?
