I've been traveling all week but I added some of the apps in this thread to my NC. I like the NY Times app; it's as good as the paper to me.

Also, I like the Dolphin browser; it has very good functionality though I am thinking maybe the out of the box web browser is a little faster. I am thinking of finding a way to make Dolphin the default browser.

The Kindle app is great and that alone I think makes the NC a great value. I have a few Kindle books that I bought before and now I don't have to read them on my laptop or phone.

The DoggCatcher app is terrific since I am a big TED talks fan.

Finally, I also did the nasty and got Angry Birds. Very addictive. that's all I will say.

Thanks to everyone for helping me out and pointing at these apps. I so hope the B&N app store takes off soon. I hate to worry about their next firmware upgrade breaking the functionality I now enjoy.

The "Read in Store" feature didn't work. I removed superuser prior to going in.

Yah, someone also confirmed on another forum that "read in store" wouldn't work in his rooted NC even though he didn't install any apps. Then he did a factory reset and he can access the "read in store" again. They are trying to figure out how to work around it.

Well, at least it is confirmed that a factory reset can get everything back to the stock configuration. I was thinking to root it before my upcoming long trip so I can load som games app to play with and unroot it after I come back. It'll be some hassle to go back and forth; hopefully it can be fixed in the next nooter or I'll have to wait for the B&N app store.

OK, I installed the Overdrive app and went to my library account. However, when I try to download a book (check it out virtually), the download doesn;t occur and I get a bunch of gobbledygook in the browser. Am I missing something?

Well, I don't have a rooted NC (but I have used the Overdrive app successfully on my iPhone) so here are a few suggestions. The library files have DRM-encryption. Have you authorized your NC to an ADE account? When I use applications on my iPhone that are linked to ADE, I have to authorize each app separately to my Adobe account (rather than authorizing the iPhone as a device once). Maybe the Overdrive Android app is looking for something similar. Did it prompt you to log-in with your Adobe account info? Is there a setting for authorization anywhere?

Yes, Bookworm_Girl is correct. Go into "App Settings" and look for "eBook Options". You'll see "Authorize this device..." There is where you enter your Adobe ID and Password.

I don't see any "e-book options" under App Settings.

"App Settings" located within the Overdrive app. Right under "Get Books". Within "App Settings" it's in the middle of the screen. You don't even have to scroll down to see it. It says "eBook Options", right under "Audiobook Options".

Ah, yes, thank you.

Now, I get: Error retrieving AdobeID credentials. Key length not 128/192/256 bits. (error code 2003)

I hate DRM.

Overdrive is having system issues now. Let's see what happens when things are back up and running. Also, this explains the error message (gobbly gook) when trying to download books on the NC from the library page.

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...96#post1264596

Edit: Overdrive's up again. Still get the gobbly gook when trying to download on the NC. Sent help request to support@overdrive.com
