I'm in Arizona, USA with a Paperwhite 1st gen and slightly older basic Kindle with physical buttons.
Nothing has changed yet except my credit card bill for all the "emergency" purchases and my maxed out library cards. |

Send to Kindle still working on my Kindle Touch. You'd never know it was disconnected unless you try to download an Amazon book.

Of course there is no reason to kill Browser downloads either. It's not about saving money either. |

I noticed that on the Amazon help page Kindle E-Readers Released in 2012 or Earlier it states under "What stays the same?":

Amazon slow-rolls firmware updates and feature roll outs. It's pretty standard practice to slowly replace servers in large distributed deployments, too. There are a lot of automated deployment systems that do so including Amazon's own AWS State Manager. If they've got hundreds or thousands of instances across dozens of local regions then it makes sense that they change a few, monitor, change a few more, etc. until everything is done. Add in time to fix any issues they run into and a few days to migrate an entire fleet that's years old makes a lot of sense from a systems administrator perspective.

My K5 can no longer connect to Amazon at all. I always only have a couple books downloaded to my device, and those are the only ones I can see now. Everything that's in the cloud is gone, showing 0 books, so there's nothing to click to even try downloading. Amazon's website shows my K5 no longer supported, so I can't send to it from a web browser.
I also can't deregister it, either from the K5 or Amazon's website. I'm wondering if it will now always be listed as one of my devices, even if I do a factory reset and give it away because it no longer communicates with Amazon to report the factory reset. |
