Are they so subtle that you can't be specific.

It should go without saying we use the same Word templates and Writer templates, which have been developed collaboratively to ensure compatibility between them. As to WP versions: Word 2016 or later, LO Writer 7.1 or later. Up until 2021 we had Wordperfect in the loop.

The one publisher who did produce an ebook format has stopped doing so. The demand dwindled over recent years to the extent it wasn't worth the expense.

One is page styles. There was something about links or headings or headings with bookmarks. I think margins on images?
It was a while ago on either LO Writer 5.x or 6.x, just loading the docx saved from LO back into LO. I'm sure it really only affected using Calibre to make an epub and wouldn't have been noticeable on print or PDF export.

The LO Writer loading of docx very much concentrates on having the same appearance as MS Word, and load - edit - save using docx is two conversions. So while mostly there is no issue, obviously if you are only using LO Writer it makes sense to only edit ODT and do an extra Save As in docx, which looks correct in Word 2007, so obviously it's importing docx exported by the same LO and not edited in the meantime seems to be a little strange.
But you can have issues with doc or docx between different versions of MS Word. My MS Word XP/2002 from 2002 later got a docx plugin and though it's a save option, it throws a write error (doc files save fine). It reads docx mostly OK.
Much much later I got a NOS copy of Word 2003 for Linux WINE (registered OK) as it and Excel 2003 are the most compatible for WINE32. (The 2007 is 2nd most and 2002/XP doesn't work at all). By then MS had removed plug-ins to update Word 2003 for docx, or at least I can't find one. So the Word 2002/XP on ancient XP can read docx but Word 2003 can't.
