Neither of our 2 credit cards have raised numbers now. I didn't know anyone used the carbon card imprints anymore.

Personally, I like the touchless option with my Apple Watch. Not all places take Apple Pay, but the extra security it provides is appreciated.

My card is touchless capable but most of the card machines in stores don't have any indication as to where on the machine to tap the card. So rather than aimlessly holding my card over various parts of the machine hoping to hit the right spot, I usually just end up inserting the card in the slot.

And they are in different spots. Sone have it right over the screen, some in a corner, ... Simpler to insert the card then trying to find the right touch spot.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I don't understand why they don't just have a symbol or something on the machine to indicate where the spot is.

From what I've seen, some have the symbol and you are supposed to tap over the symbol, but others have the symbol and you are supposed to tap on the screen.

Even though the tap-spot is obvious I almost always put my Opal travel card against the screen.

It's another instance of my lack of affinity with symbolic representations.

The local supermarket has stuck 'Tap Here" labels on their card readers (just above above the screen), as has the pharmacy (on the left side) - never have a problem with those.

I'm looking for a new area rug for my home. In searching online stores there are so many "distressed" rugs and no way to filter those out. I have to scroll through tons of those intentionally faded rugs looking for the ones that are more vivid non-faded colors.

Yesterday the committee that has been giving advice to the government about Covid had an emergency meeting yesterday. With Omicrom they are advising a hard lockdown; all non-essential stores will have to close.

The cabinet is having an emergency meeting today, but the expectation is that they will follow the advice. Normally Covid press conferences are on Tuesday, but they want to prevent people from all rushing to the stores, cafes and restaurants in the coming days, so there will be a press conference today and the lockdown will be in effect immediately. I wouldn't be surprised if the press conference is earlier than the normal time of 7pm. So I'll have to keep an eye on the news in case we have to close early today.

I'm expecting it not only to be very busy today, but I'm also expecting customers to have really short fuses. So I'm expecting a lot of discussions (or at least attempts of getting into a discussion) and meltdowns today. I just hope I'll have time to eat lunch.
