The Paperwhite 4 has all 5 (white) LEDs along the bottom. I’ve never had any issue with the lighting.

My understanding about the Oasis is that 13 of the LEDs are amber, the other 12 are white. Does anyone here know how the respective LEDs are arranged?

I assume the new Paperwhite also has a mix of white and amber LEDs. If we assume a similar ratio of white to amber, then it would have 9 amber and 8 white LEDs.

My guess is that they are interleaved along the bottom edge, except that Oasis doesn’t really have a bottom; I would think you would notice a a change as you flip it over, but I’ve never had an opportunity to use one.

Also I assume the main point of having more LED’s is to make the lighting more evenly distributed, not to have more brightness available.

Normally there is an extra white LED, so you have white LEDs on both edges. At least that's the way it on my Tolinos, Nook Glowlight 3 and PocketBook HD3. Unless I'm mistaken, the Oasis is lit from the side (where the buttons are), not from the bottom, which is why it would need so many LEDs (longer edge).

I have the Oasis 2, the Voyage and a PW4. The Voyage is by far the best screen, much better than the Oasis. The PW4 is the worst screen, it like looking at the Voyage through vellum.

I still have mine, and an Oasis. I prefer the ergonomics of the Oasis, so it's my every day screen. But nothing beats the origami cover on the Voyage -- perfect for sitting at the table reading. Oh, and the Voyage fits in my hip pocket. Not so with the Oasis. So, it's a bit of a tradeoff either way. But honestly, I read on the Voyage less and less.

No. The USB port has developed a problem--it just seems to be far too loose, or something. We've tried everything. (And it doesn't have wireless charging.)

I've no idea what could have caused it, because I'm careful with my devices, very--my K2 still works, for crying out loud!--but my Voyage can't charge.

I read 6 inches in one column in portrait format, 7.8 / 8 inches in two columns in reverse landscape format.

For me, I find my H2O easy to use on the go. It's not too large or too heavy. I know it's only 0.8" larger then a 6" screen but it does make a noticeable difference.

If you do need or prefer a larger font size, the Libra or the Forma is going to do much better then a 6" screen.
