I've posted test versions with an experiment feature to support using FlareSolverr.

If you are not able to obtain, install and run FlareSolverr on your own from the FlareSolverr documentation, I politely suggest that you are not a good candidate for evaluating this experimental feature at this time.

After you have FlareSolverr running, to enable it in FFF use:

Obviously, this is mostly for ffnet, but it does appear to work for many other sites. Notably, it does not work for SpaceBattles, SufficientVelocity, QQ and I assume the other XenForoForum sites. FlareSolverr fails with a 'Page Crashed' error.

I've tested the FFF code in Win10, Mac and Ubuntu 21.04 using Calibre 5.x official releases and Win10 CLI. I've only run FlareSolverr on Windows and used the flaresolverr_proxy_address setting to point the different Calibre to the same FlareSolverr proxy server.

I can confirm flaresolver is working for me to download stories on fanfiction.net.
Interesting that it seems to have to solve a challenge each time even though it seems to have a cookie saved.

Already fixed in the latest test version, see link in my sig.

If you still have problems with the test version, please post a story URL that causes it and (ideally) a debug log from running Calibre in debug mode (under Calibre's Preferences dropdown) while trying.

Is it possible to download the Revised Story Only thread for With This Ring on QQ?

Basic problem is that the story-only thread only threadmarks the start of each episode (basically story arc). Each arc is dozens of posts in length with 99% of the story contained in non-threadmarked posts. FFF gives me the first post of each arc as that's the only one that's threadmarked and skips all the other posts.

I tried to turn off using threadmarks via personal.ini with:

[base_xenforoforum]
minimum_threadmarks:5000

However, FFF only downloaded the first post and nothing else when I did so.

While the story can be downloaded in the "main" With This Ring thread, that version is split into 14 threads and is not the revised edition which has been properly edited.

Is there a way to just download every post in a thread on QQ?

Hi all:

Just a very very small observation: I tend to add fanfic URLs to Calibre in groups, and noticed a while back that when I pasted a URL into the Download from URL box, it used to add a hard return to the end of the URL, ready to paste in the next address. It doesn't do that anymore. and I sometimes forget to add the return, resulting in failed 'gets' due to malformed URLs.

There was a period of time when I would try to paste URLs copied from Outlook and it would paste the formatted text in instead of the URL, but that stopped. Could have been a computer glitch for all I know.

Is there any way the hard return could be added back in? Was there a coding reason it was removed?

Thanks for listening to my little whine lol I haven't tried any of the FFN fixes, since I'm years behind on my computer understanding, more than Darth1 there.

No, there isn't. I decided that a 'download all posts' feature was a) too difficult/expensive to update--FFF depends on a chapter list paradigm and b) too open to abuse.

FFF used to add a newline at the end of all pasting--which made it very difficult to copy/paste or edit within the edit box. Now it follows the standard convention for edit boxes.

No. FFDL doesn't download them, therefore they are not in the cache. I believe WebToEpub is the same.

Use manual cache filling, or try the nsapa or flaresolverr proxies.

I've been using flaresolverr on win10 with great success, but I download very little from ffnet anymore.

I believe the flaresolverr proxy solution is solid enough to try for anyone who's comfortable downloading and running flaresolverr.

Be warned, however, that I don't intend to offer support for flaresolverr itself.
