Thanks for the tip. I am using Big Sur on my M1 MacBook Pro. The fix worked once I updated the Safari preferences. When I close “Download and transfer via USB”. Now another browser window pops up (with no content). The ebook files now show up in my download folder.

Happy to help! I will admit that when I saw the new "digital console" and couldn't download my ebooks, I experienced sinking dread that Amazon was doing away with "Download for transfer via USB". Fortunately, that's not the case and they just changed their download process to involve a pop-up window. Maybe it's more secure that way?

What exactly did you change in Safari to have another browser window pop up?

(Everything is working fine in Firefox.)

UPDATE: I figured out how to get it working on Safari. --- Thank you.

It' smore difficult for some to download eBooks. That's why Amazon changed the way eBooks are downloaded.

Dr. Drib,
I followed Odamizu’s advice: In Safari, I opened preferences, then selected the Websites tab, scrolled all the way down and changed the Pop Up preference to Allow (for Amazon).
Then when I click download via USB from the Amazon link, another tab opens in Safari, but I see no content. I click back on the Amazon Tab and I see a “success” message. I check the download folder and the ebook file is there! So there is no interaction with the Pop Up tab.

I had the same thoughts about Amazon adding some new protection. Fortunately that was not the case. I hope they realize that if I can’t side load Amazon purchased books to my Kobo, I will purchase my books elsewhere!. I spend a lot more money on books than eReaders!

I'm wondering if the recent issue where Chrome started flagging Amazon downloads as insecure prompted this change in how ebooks are downloaded. Does the new "digital console" still use JavaScript to initiate downloads?

It sounds like this problem only affects Mac users?

Maybe only Safari users. No problem using Chrome for Mac.

I just started having a problem where when I click the Deliver or Remove From Device button I get the window with a spinning orange circular line. And then it's stuck there, spinning forever. Enabling popups and insecure content didn't fix it. Windows 10; Firefox, Edge, and Chrome all do the same thing, and with popups and insecure content allowed.

I was trying to solve this problem with amazon and their chat window but the person who was helping me was having me do the usual simple stuff; restart my browser, sign out and sign back in, restart my kindle, restart windows, etc. Then I remembered this thread but the solutions here aren't helping either.

I am having this issue too, on every browser (Firefox, Chrome, Edge, etc.). It was peviously working fine with the new MYCD layout as late as Sunday. Monday, nothing had changed and it had stopped working.

Popups allowed, etc. -- like I said, it was working just fine with the new layout after allowing popups.

I am in the US. I saw a poster on Reddit saying it's working OK in the UK so I thought I should mention it.

It's working again here now. Nothing changed on my end, just kept retrying sporadically for the past couple of days.
