Calibre Font option keyboard shortcuts
When updating the metadata for a book, I remember being able select text and then hit ctrl-B to bold, ctrl-I for italic and ctrl-U to underline when editing text in the Comments box. I just tried to bold some text and none of the keyboard shortcuts worked. Right-clicking the highlighted text and selecting Bold (Italic, Underline) from the Fonts menu does work.

I haven't used those keyboard shortcuts to modify text in the Comments box in quite a while so not sure when it stopped working for me. Is this an problem with my setup or are other people noticing the same issue? Possibly an issue with the widget used to edit text in the comments box?

Ctrl+b etc work for me in 4:16.

I only just noticed there's a 4:17, I grab it and try it. Hang on.

Added: Also working in version 4.17 on Windows 10 1909 64 bit. Are they working in other applications, wp, text editors etc.

Yes. They work in all other programs I've tested. In calibre's editor, ctrl-b adds <b></b> to the selected text either from code or text though text is a pain since it will place the added tags outside the <p></p> tags. Reminds me of why I said goodbye to Sigil's BookView without a single tear.

The only place they don't seem to be working is in the Comments editor.

Works for me under Linux (Tumbleweed) and MacOSX Catalina. It took me quite a while to notice that it didn't work under Windows so not that serious to me.

Ctril-B does not work for me (under v3.42 64-bit and Windows 7) for Comments metadata except in Normal View and only when the toolbar is visible. If the toolbar is not showing, does not work.

I turned the toolbar off a while back since I found it mostly a waste of space when editing comments. Turning it back on enabled the shortcut keys. Thanks for kick starting my memory!
