No, as far as I see (I´ll check more in detail after davidfor's comment, but I thought that the number of page in the book didn´t change atfer advancing a page).

Keep in mind he’s using a version we don’t have access to some things may be different, one big difference appears to be how disabling header and footer information is rendered.

Works fine on my Aura HD. Footer is way too big, as others have reported, and the header is a little too big, too.

Just curious: Does this fw version fixes the toc problem of fw 4.15.12920?

I think this should be configurable, and if finally it is not, I would like to have a patch to leave the header and footer as they are now.

I tried the firmware on my H2O v.1 and it's working fine so far, isn't particularly slow. In regards to fullscreen reading, I usually read kepub with the footer hidden and to me, the current space left at the bottom looks perfect - it's exactly what I patch it to be, so I'm very pleased with the result. Once the new firmware version with the smaller space at the top will be in, I think that it will please the vast majority of users - it's aesthetically pleasing now, at least, compared to before when the margins were truly too big no matter how you looked at it. I know that some people like to patch it so that the text goes right to the bezel of the screen but as that is made of a small minority of people and it wouldn't exactly improve readability (though I do realize that preferences exist - I'm not questioning that), I think they've made the right choice.

Is there an option to turn off the Book Title in the footer, so it can display ONLY the current page number / total pages? I prefer the minimalism of only having the numbers.

A question for Davidfor, who has seen the future and is apparently no longer gagged.
Now that Kobo is displaying page number for whole book by default, does it look like they will fix the wonky page numbering in books that don't have carefully crafted TOC? (I mean, while they were re-working how pages are counted anyhow, have a properly working progress bar, and needed to fix the TOC issues in Epub, might as well fit in correct current page..) |
