2,000 and counting. Plus delete the ones that I didn't enjoy.

Regarding the Elibrary, I find very few of the thrillers etc that I want are there.
And usually a 6 month wait if they are.

With 2000 plus in your personal library, what's the harm in a 6 month wait?

The only real problem is that my library limits holds to 5. Which can be a problem if you have several LONG wait books you want. I'm currently maxed out for at least the next 8 weeks, and two new ones got bought by the library that I want.

Frankly, I buy new releases from very few authors, though there are a few. Meanwhile, I have plenty to read in my Calibre.

Being addicted to reading is fine. It's the buying I find a problem.

Libraries vary. My local is crap. The place I used to live had a great library and I read from there.

Also ebooks in libraries is a relatively new concept and I do most of my reading on Kindle.

BTW, if people only used the library, authors and publishers would go out of business. While I was a student on a very limited income, it made sense to always pursue only what was in the library. Once I had a competent income, I bought my books and discovered a wide range of authors that I didn't previously know about. I know that in the near future, my ability to purchase ebooks/audiobooks will become severely restricted, and I will be happy knowing that I have lots of books that *I* enjoy available. I can then supplement with the library, as needed, for the more popular authors. Still, there is a limit to what I can read in 10 years.

I was reminded of the recent library discussion while perusing some bargains and as a result have three more books on hold and only one book purchased (that time).

The book holds are nicely distributed so that they'll be arriving at my branch with sufficent time inbetween books to read them all.

My six month review.

Purchases 8 [read 6/8]
Money spent $17.92
Average $2.24

Read 23
Of these ...
Purchased 10
Library 10
Free 3

Satisfied with these numbers but I would like to make headway with the 25 or so unread purchases I still have. Looking at the list, it seems my interest in them has waned.

My father looked at my bookcases, sneered, and said I was addicted to reading. I kicked off a new argument by saying, "Could be worse. I could be a drunk."

Who here buys more books than they can possibly read?

I got a B&N gift card and purchased Night Chills and Darkness Under the Sun ( Dean Koontz) Jurassic Park, Mists of Avalon, all last night.

And I bought on Kindle "The Troop" by Nick Cutter ( A Stephen King recommend) Man-Eater, The Road to Jonestown, The Martian
