Going from the dimensions, this one should fit the new Oasis.
The only dimension off is the depth of the case (8mm) with the oasis coming in at 8.3mm.


It is advertised for the older oasis and that was 8.5mm at its widest point.

I just posted about BB in the delivery date thread. I called last week (or right around time of the announcement) and the response was not to expect any display models until close to the release date. I'm going to be near a BB tomorrow morning and will drop in to see if 3 days before the official release day is "close" enough.

I have an iPad mini sleeve from Cocones that looks like it will work from the dimensions. Will know for sure once the Kindle arrives next week.

For those expecting to receive the new Oasis in the coming week, have you considered the possibility of jail breaking your device?

The original Oasis had no obvious serial port so a software jail break was the only option. The new model may be the same.

Amazon stated in the press release that a firmware update would be available on release day to add Audible. There is a remote possibility that the firmware installed on the device out of the box may be jail breakable while the update may not.

Those that desire a jail break may want to block this update until the status of it can be determined. It will probably be a short wait to find out one way or the other.

I'd really suggest waiting a few days for sleeves designed for the Oasis to appear. It's a popular device - I'm sure it won't be a long wait!

No new Oasis at nearby BB today. Only the basic Kindle and PW. My local Staples also carries Kindle ereaders and I have only ever seen the PW. Never seen the higher end readers. Now I wonder if the new Oasis will be sold at B&M stores.

Well, that was interesting. I tried to order this, plus a case online. It kept on telling me that the case was unavailable to my country (Macau) even though it said that the case was available. It only gave me the error message when I tried to check out. I spent 20 minutes on chat to Amazon and they could not figure it out. They said they would get back to me when they come up with a solution.

Something similar happened to someone in another forum. He placed an order for the new Kindle Oasis via Amazon UK. A week later he receives an email from Amazon saying that the order has been cancelled because the delivery cannot be made. He spent like almost an hour chatting with a CS rep. but they weren’t able to help. I think he was from Norway.

Now I know that you can order a Kindle and have it shipped to an international address, however and if I’m not mistaken, this can only be done through Amazon.com (US). It’s very strange how he was able to place the order through Amazon UK in the first place though. It’s like Amazon cancelled the order when they were preparing it for shipment and they saw a non-UK address and had no idea what to do.
