Update. I did buy the Aura HD, not the refurbished. I've been reading with it for a few weeks now; The battery life seems fine, very similar to my Aura 6".

I thought I would switch back and forth between readers to keep the battery healthy, but I really like the larger screen. I can hardly wait for the Aura One to be taken out of production so I can await the discounted stock!

Thanks again to the mobileread community for helping me make an informed choice.
