As you can see, it's not an expensive book. I just wanted to see if I could use a promo code to save something. Knowing that promo code field is there (but not utilized) drives me up the wall.

When searching or browsing Kobo's site and you have a column of filters on the left side, scroll all the way down to see an "Items Eligible for Promo Codes" button.

Me, too! I haven't been able to get ANY code to work in months! I thought I would try a whole slew of them today after I read your post.

Now I'm going to go for the price match guarantee on the same book.

Some books can be.
There is a particular series I buy , which Amazon prices at 9.99 and Kobo ranges from 15.99-18.99 most of the time, although on occasion they've been as high as 21.99. So unless I have a 50% or greater coupon, I actually come out further ahead by paying full price & then claiming the price match.

Yes. With the price difference plus the 10% of the competition's price, I should get a credit for about $2.32.

Not surprised, just curious. I remember when Kobo first started price match that some credits were issued even though a coupon had lowered the priced below the competition. Kobo soon caught on and stopped that though.

I'm surprised Kobo isn't running afoul of any consumer protection laws. Kinda sounds like bait and switch.

They've done it again. This time a 50% code.

I'm getting so fed up with kobo. Once my smile points membership ends i'm going to stick with Amazon, its just so much easier, and most of the time cheaper.

kobo20birthday worked for me in the US

I have not received any deep discounts from Kobo recently, but they send me coupons for anywhere between 20 & 30%% almost every other week and they all work.

I've had five codes via email in the last few weeks, a 25, 30, 35, 50 and 90. The lower three worked, the later two don't .

I got nowhere raising a query about the 90 so I won't bother with the 50.
