Do you want a screen with a light? If so, the paperwhite or the voyage. Of the two, if you can easily afford it, the voyage seems to be a bit better (smaller, lighter, better screen light, haptic buttons as well as touch screen).
Are you often away from wifi? Do you want to be able to get a new book from Amazon wherever you are? If the answer to those is 'yes', you probably want a model with 3G as well as wifi. Do you completely hate on-device advertising? Then get the one without ads for a little more. Or do you just need a plain Kindle with no light and you don't mind advertising, and your budget is tight? In which case the basic Kindle is for you. |

I would suggest you go with a Kindle Paperwhite (PW3)

I would go with the Paperwhite, unless you don't care about budgets and money, in which case I'd get a Voyage.

I have a Paperwhite 3 and a Voyage, both with 3G. They're both great devices and I would't willingly give up either of them. I can't easily afford either. I'm self supporting entirely on my social security so I have to save carefully to get these.
I'm not sure the Voyage is enough better than the Paperwhite to justify the price difference but I have both and I use the Voyage a LOT more than the Paperwhite. If I was starting from scratch I'd get the Paperwhite because I wouldn't have to save as long, but I'd miss the Voyage. Barry |

I am new to ebook readers and I started with the Paperwhite and then returned it and got the Voyage.
I liked the evenness of the lighting better on the Voyage but I realize that doesn't justify the much higher price. Since it was my first I decided to splurge and not keep obsessing over the "should have". Otherwise I was perfectly happy with the PW. |

Paperwhite. 6th or 7th gen., there is no difference (2013 PW2 OR 2015 PW3).

I have the Paperwhite 2 and Paperwhite 3 and I can't really see much difference. Both screens are excellent. I use the 3rd smallest font on both and I can't see any real difference in the screens. The color is slightly different when I put them side by side to compare but if anything the color of the Paperwhite 2 is a bit better. When reading I can't tell the difference at all.

Honestly, if you liked your previous one, just get it used. Ebay has tons of them. In many cases, a nice cover is part of the deal.
The new ereaders are pretty much like tablets. They have some features, but for straight reading, what you used and loved may be just as good for the price. I just upgraded to a Voyage after turning in several older ereaders. I'm not sure it was for the best, so I'm glad I kept the one Kindle keyboard. Me and touch screens don't get along as well as I would have thought. I hate having all these fingerprints all over. My family nagged me into getting one of those clear covers to put over the screen to protect it and the fingerprints are just as bad if not worse on that. |

I know that's been mentioned before, but honestly, I know of 10 people who got their kindles from Ebay and had no problems with any of them. Although, they are not getting the latest and greatest either. You just have to very carefully read through all the details on the ad. If it says that it can't be registered, it means that it is blacklisted.

I've bought a lot of stuff from Ebay over the years and the very few problems I've had have been very minor. I'm usually pretty careful to only buy things I can return if there are problems. That makes it pretty safe.
Actually the worse problem I had was when what was supposed to be a Kobo Glo turned out to be a Kobo Mini. It was priced really cheap even for a Mini so I probably would have kept it in any case to share with a neighbor. In fact I didn't have to decide that because I emailed the seller and he told me to keep it and he'd already refunded my money as soon as he got my email. I'm fine with problems like that. ![]() Barry |

Tarana--I think you might be better off without the screen protector. I've never used one on any of the touch screen readers that I've had (Sony PRS350, Sony PRS 650, Kindle Paperwhite 2, Kobo Aura HD, and now a Kindle Voyage). Have never had a problem with scratches on any of my screens. And when I did try the screen protectors, in my experience they actually caused more fingerprint, glare, and fuzzy text issues.
