Or, I think things started getting wonky when the contest website went from kobo.contest.com to kobo.com/contest. The response time (i.e. the time for a code to pop out after correctly answer a question) has obviously become longer.

My thoughts, too. In relation to the two points already raised, having separate contest sites for U.S., U.K., and Canada has surely affected the load on Kobo's servers.

Looking at the list I am amazed how many self/indie published books are priced at $4.99 and $5.99.

I've noticed it too in the past 6 months or so. Used to be they were $3/$4 as the norm. Just like everything else, prices are going up.

Some of that pricing is because the first in a series is free--so it's become pretty popular to put the next in series at a higher price. I've seen a few who actually price higher at kobo to account for the coupons--and that annoys me to no end. I love indies and I love to read--but don't give "fake" discounts. Price it the same everywhere and either offer a discount or don't!

Pricing is all over the map these days!

Edited to add: In fairness, sometimes Google will do a discount and Amazon will match. Since Kobo does not match, it can sometimes appear the pricing has actually been set higher. It's usually easy to tell because a "discount match" ends in an odd number like 3.82. Of course, depending on exchange rates it might not be all that easy to tell. But I have seen some books priced on Kobo 3 and 4 dollars higher and I really don't understand that when it comes from a small publisher or indie. I'm probably missing something, but I don't know what!

If it were anyone other thank Kobo, I'd say they were tracking who has complained and gotten coupons already and who hasn't. But I think it is more random than that!

I got a 70% off coupon too that I mentioned upthread somewhere. But look out for another email from CS in a week or two. I just got one that says:

We have previously attempted to contact you as we require additional information to continue our investigation of your request. Unfortunately, we have yet to receive a response and are unable to action your ticket until the requested information is provided. We have changed the status of your ticket to a ‘pending solved’ state and would ask that you please update your ticket should the issue persist so that we may re-commence our investigation.

The only previous response I had was the apology and 70% discount coupon. No requests for additional information and today's email doesn't say what information they need to continue their investigation.

I'm afraid my response to today's communication was a little sarcastic, especially as there was a second email sent an hour or so later asking me to complete a short survey about my recent experience with Kobo CS.

That quoted email is pretty standard from them as a way to let you know they are closing the issue. I think it gets sent automatically when they close an issue or mark it resolved or something like that. They probably generated it automatically some time after sending you the coupon. I have gotten it before when I send a ticket into the author area after they have responded and resolved the issue.

They asked me that too in the email they sent about clearing cookies and trying different browsers. They also wanted to know which country's contest I was trying to enter. When I responded to that, I received an apology with codes.
