instant ssh server
Hi, I modded the sources of onyx "device server" (the vsftp server app they made) to start the ssh server I compiled (see previous post).
To install: 1: install the ssh package from the previous post 2: unpack ssh_server_bin.zip to your boox and run install.oar The device should do something and reboot. after that you should have an instant ssh app in your applications. If you start it it will connect to wifi and start the server. Note that per default the boox has users without passwords that are allowed to log in, that kind of takes the "secure" out of the secure shell. I suggest that after the first log in you make sure all users have a password. Enjoy! Last edited by bartp5; 08-10-2013 at 05:06 PM. |

Anyone tried this on boox 60?
I am running openboox firmware and i already have necessary kernel module. Not sure about devpts though. So far partial success, i got the gadget driver to present as different usbid, but not luck with getting any login prompt so far. edit: i worked that around by using g_ether module. the serial one does not feel like cooperating. Hi,
You need nothing more than a plain M92. To install: 1: download and unpack ssh_server_bin.zip (from my previous post to this thread) 2: download and unpack the openssh.zip (from my post before that) 3: copy the directories ssh_server_bin and openssh to the boox 4: on the boox go fisrt to the openssh directory and run the install script 5: then on the boox go to the ssh_server_bin directory and run install After that the boox should reboot. Once it is running again there should be an "instant ssh-server" in the applications menu. After this you should have a functional ssh server. Note however that 1: root has an unknown password 2: the user app has no password (and virtually no rights either) For this reason I always use the script from "gserial_M92_v16orig2.zip" (see this post) to clear the root password. After that I log in as root and set my own passwords for both root and the user app. Last edited by bartp5; 01-16-2015 at 04:51 AM. |

In Putty, I login as: root
and this is displayed: BusyBox v1.6.1 () Built-in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands. root@onyx ~$ On, my OnyxBoox M92 I can see the following: SSH Server: 192.168.0.2 Instant ssh-server openssh 6.2p I'm lost after this....what do I do to view my desktop on my M92? Do I type any commands on Putty? Thanks for your kind help - much appreciated. Last edited by donlockwood; 03-06-2015 at 11:52 PM. |

It looks like everything is working and you got yourself an ssh server. You can do lots of cool things with ssh but viewing a remote desktop is not one of them. For that there is a VNC client though (see here), allowing you to see your PC desktop on the M92 (only viewing, you cannot use the boox for input events). Cheers |
