Please be careful - a soft-sided case won't protect adequately (if at all) against twisting forces or blows to the screen, which are both highly likely to fracture the glass substrate.

Did you break one. Just curious as the one good thing I have to say for Kobo is they seem pretty sturdy so far.

I put them in my pocket, my apron at work, backpack etc. and they are as good as new.

They have both fallen of the bed and table numerous times but keep on ticking with no scratches that I can see. Not saying that they are any better than the Sony which has gone through more, but pretty resilient overall.

Thanks! It's also available at my nearby FNAC. I won't buy one before long, if ever, but i would like to see one. I might go today.

I know about the page turn bug in the Glo. I never experienced that myself so for what it's worth: no such thing on the Aura.

Am I the only person here who thinks the Aura's fonts are not as sharp as the Glo's?
Also, this diamond pattern thing is definitely visible to the naked eye for me, even not in direct sunlight.

Just to be sure I'm not dreaming this I took photos through a usb microscope.

At high magnification it is probably not possible to get both layers in focus at the same time. Since the layer with the diamond pattern is in focus, the e-ink layer is probably going to be out of focus. I would try to take a few pictures at different focal distances to get a better idea if the fuzzyness in the Aura photo is due to the Aura or the camera's focus setting.

Nope, tried adjusting things but made no difference whatsoever. This is the sharpest I can get for the text regardless of what the diamond pattern looks like.

I find the diamond pattern very disturbing, or let's say it would disturb me a lot. Is it the same on all new Auras ?

I can only say that from the three that I went through, the pattern was on all. Each was noticeable on the top 1/4 or so. I could only notice it when the frontlight was not on and when in bright light from a lamp or the sun.

It seems that when in bright light the effect can be diminished quite a bit by turning the frontlight on. Or so it seems to me.
