Kindle 4.1.1 with tequila 1.0.6.211 will not reboot
Hi,
I recently purchased a Kindle 4.1.1 which I hope to turn into an e-ink display following these instructions - http://www.ponnuki.net/2012/09/kindleberry-pi/ Step 1 is to jailbreak the Kindle, and I have been following these instructions for that - https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kind...king#Jailbreak In summary:
I can't get past step 4. The tequila UI just reboots to itself (and only when I hit the left arrow on the directional pad, I might add, selecting "Q) To continue" does nothing. I can't load the Kindle OS at all. What am I doing wrong? Thanks! -Peter Last edited by pholm; 09-05-2013 at 09:25 PM. |

Basically the problem is that when I reboot I just end up back in the Tequila bootloader. How can I get back into the Kindle OS?

this will create an *.xml file, whose absence is preventing the exit from diags mode. pick a relatively 'harmless' diag test to run (and STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING LIKE: 'erase all' !!!!!) |

Thanks for the tip. That was the problem (the missing file diagnostic_logs/device_info.xml).
I'm surprised more people don't have this problem, since the instructions at the wiki here - https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kind...king#Jailbreak as well as the readme file do not mention copying the diagnostic_logs/device_info.xml file from the kindle-jailbreak-k4-1.6.N jailbreak directory. Thanks again! |

Huh. Good to know, will fix the package/wiki ASAP, AFAIR this is the first time someone reported this for the K4 (until now, we were only aware that it was needed for most Touch released since the EU release/5.1.x).
EDIT: Or not, there's a very decent chance I messed up when rewriting the instructions (... last february...), so thank you for the detailed report & investigation ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 09-06-2013 at 04:56 PM. |

@NiLuJe: something like this?
![]() Yep, simply entering that single entry, and exiting again, is enough - no need to run any actual tests. I'm pretty confident that I also tried this on a K4 with the same outcome (=working), but I'm not 100% sure anymore (must be Alzheimer or so, I guess ![]() |

@ixtab: Ha! Thanks, will do. Unfortunately, I'm not sure anymore if the K4 I have on hand actually has a diags build with the log file requirements, which might explain why I completely forgot about it.
I'll check ![]() |
