EDIT: Mine doesn't show Online/Offline status for my contacts in my Skype list!!! What about you guys?
You don't need to go through xterm or JoppyTerm to run this! Here is what I did until I find a way to send this app to background / bring it forward on the screen: When Skype is running, you still can see the top black bar. Click on it and toolbar will appear. What you can do is click on the Kindle Store button (in my Kindle, I've replaced it and assigned it to Browser). It'll send Skype to background. If you want to kill Skype, download my extension, but you have to change it so it works for you. It works for me for now! Last edited by thatworkshop; 09-30-2012 at 09:24 PM. |

Agree, that the volume have to be increased, but temporary you can change the volume by Experimental/Mp3 Player . |

Greetings.
Can someone please post/paste the output of amixer on their device? My mic isn't picking up anything, and I don't remember fiddling with alsamixer significantly (I have already tried the recorder extension which re-sets recording volume, nothing, and tried similar stuff, silence again). Thanks. This skype UI appears to work okay otherwise. |

[root@kindle mlocate]# amixer
Spoiler:
I believe Ixtab published a one liner that ups the Mic volume IIRC EDIT: found it /usr/bin/amixer sset 'MIXINL PGA',0 100% unmute cap; /usr/bin/amixer sset 'Capture',0 100%,100% unmute cap Quote:

Any ideas how to set gtk windows in background and foreground on KT? It will be helpful to put skype in background during reading.

I guess, you should just change window title to don't have app layer hint (or to have hidden layer hint) and window manager will do the rest. It means, that instead L:A_ you should set L:H_ or L:nonsense_.

I tried to hide and show windows with apps like wmctrl or xdotool and it worked. Side effect was that GUI Launcher window behave strangely, not showing sometimes. Then I stopped my experiments. I wish someone will find a reliable way to hide and show windows. It would be very usefull. |

Just call gtk_widget_hide() to hide window and later gtk_widget_show() when you want to restore it. Attached you will find simple test program. When you click hide button window will disappear. To restore it send SIGINT or SIGUSR1 signal to it. I just slightly modified this example. |
