"Is that an ipad?"

When people see me using the entourage edge, this seems to be their question about 80% of the time - have others had similar experiences?

I've had people ask me what the eDGe is before, but no one has confused it for an iPad.

I have gotten this as well, from people who admitted did not seem like "techy" people, and it's usually when it's folded LCD side up. I also had it the other way round yesterday and someone asked if it was a Kindle! On the plus side, they became very interested in buying one when I showed them the rest of it.

Yes.

I'd peg the frequency of the "is that an iPad" question at about 50%.

Same here, though we do travel in techy circles. Most people I know have, want or are philosophically opposed to an iPad, so there's really no confusion.

I had mine with me when I bought my Nook. The people at Barnes & Noble asked to look and called it what the iPad wanted to be.

For a variety of reasons. The price drop on the WiFi only model made it very affordable, it's small enough to toss in my purse and read wherever I might have a few minutes that would be wasted otherwise. But most important was the battery life, I go tent camping a lot and can't always have a site in a developed campground (no electric), the nook will last for 8 - 10 days with airplane mode turned on. I love to read, especially on the beach, and the edge is just to big for that, plus I'd be a little afraid of getting sand in the ports.

I get this occassionally, but most of the people I come in contact with either know right off the bat that it's not an iPad or they're such Apple sheep that without knowing anything about it, they ask if I wish I'd bought an iPad. I, of course, quickly point out how ridiculous that question is.

I also have a $149 nook as well. Is small, ideal for beach, I even read my emails on the e-ink screen which I can not (still) do on Edge.
