Question Change default margins for documents?

Is there a way to change the default margins in iSilo X to at least 1 pixel. I think I read somewhere that the default margin is zero, but I couldn't find where to change it.

I tried all sorts of variations on the margins properties. None of them seemed to make any difference!

The text pressed up against the actual edge of the screen is making me crazy. I put the scroll bar on the left just for the visual buffer! (I would prefer to have the scroll bar hidden and just use the up/down keys!)

Thanks.

I think you can find your answer in the stylesheet of iSiloX which is located on my computer at c:\program files\isiloX\CSS\html40.css. I must admit I haven't played with it yet, but just by looking at it I would try to change BODY to the following:

BODY { line-height: 1.0; margin: 1em 0 }

Hmm just tried it myself and it is not working. But I am sure the answer is there somewhere in the stylesheet. Does anyone else have a suggestion?

On a mac, I think the file is called iSiloX.css and is located in the Library --> Documentation--> Help --> iSiloX Help directory.

I have changed the settings of the file to:

BODY { font-family: Verdana, Arial, serif; font-size: 9pt; margin-left: 2pt }
H1 { font-size: 18pt; margin-bottom: 4pt }
H2 { font-size: 14pt; margin-bottom: 2pt }
H3 { font-size: 12pt; margin-bottom: 1pt }
H4 { font-size: 10pt; margin-bottom: 0pt }
TD { font-size: 9pt }

My message got cut off...

It didn't help. I have no way of knowing if that is the file that iSilo goes to. (there is no html40.css on my hard drive.

I think this is the file. Try to temporarily delete the file and convert a html page to isilo format. Then convert the same html using another titlename, but this time with the .css file back in place.

If you compare the two, you should see difference in line spacing, etc. Have a look here and also here.

1) there are only the 5 lines in that .css file. does that sound right? maybe I am applying changes to the wrong file.

2) is there any way to view isilo .pdb files on my desktop. I think I have "sunk" my handheld 200 times today to "see" what has changed!

Looks like the one I have installed (PC) is different. See attached file.

You can view the isilo file on your desktop in two ways. One is to install a Palm Simulator (like the Clie Simulator, try a search in this forum) and the other one is to download iSilo for Windows which runs fine for 30 days without registration. I am not sure if iSilo for Windows presents the output exactly as it would present it on your handheld, that is why I wouldn't use it for something like finetuning screen margins.

I can't believe that my isilox.css file is the analog to html40.css. Mine literally has 6 lines! And it is located in the Help directory which seems wierd. I have searched my hard drive for another file but can't find one. Any way to find out for sure what .css file iSilo is accessing?

In one of the logs, maybe?

Does iSiloX even use a specific .css file when formatting documents or is it just able to convert them along with .htmls?

htmls have nothing to do with css files - htmls are html pages with server side includes.

Yes, iSiloX should use the css file. I will ask Darren about it.

I am beginning to think that isilox for mac does not use tne .css file, tha maybe you need to use isiloxc for that. My problem is that I don't have any idea (and can't seem to find out) how to run isiloxc. I suspect it has something to do with terminal (which I have never needed to use before.)

I am not afraid. I am willing to try anything. I have gotten pretty good with isilox at this point. Have made some pretty sweet (to me) custom .htmls to start my documents from and am otherwise loving isilo. Now if I could just fix my margin issue and get Snapper to work, I would be in heaven.

Someone, please, tell me what to do with the isiloxc file that is sitting on my desktop...
