Changing from PB360 to Opus?

Hello, I bought a PocketBook 360 and gave my old Sony PRS-505 to my wife. I am reading mostly borrowed epub's from my local library and technical pdf's. So my thinking is that I will use a small 5" for novels and then buy a good 9,7" with stylus when they arrive later this year or beginning of next year. And I had read alot of positive reviews about how well the PB360 handles pdf's, and that it handles alot of different formats also (it does a good job on chm-files, windows help-files). So I thought this is a perfect device to use also in the meantime waiting for a bigger one for the pdf's. But all this extra features and formats comes at cost it seems, the basic functionality for epub is not working very well. There was a new firmware release but it was not stable and they are working on it, but I am still afraid that the ADE implementation doesn't have the highest priority among the Russians that even have their own FB2 format ??? I have read (by HarryT I think) that the best implementation for the ADE is the Opus one, this and that it has basically the same HW makes me thinking of changing to the Opus. I will miss the possibility to use both left- and right-hand reading and the really convenient cover, are their any other annoying things, buttons? Firmware? |

For straightforward reading, the Opus is excellent. Things it's lacking, compared with the PB360 are: - Bookmarks. - Text highlighting/clipping. - Search. - Dictionary lookup. If you can live without those, then the Opus is a great machine. |

What about page jumping and returning, like the history functionality on the Sony?

Yes, you have that on the Opus. Just select the "Back" option from the navigation menu.

Could I just ask you to test the BBC epub file that I generated from Calibre. Are all links working? I don't mean that you should test ALL, but just test that the different section links seems to work And can you also use the back and forward history function?

I'm away from home at the moment, and don't have my Opus with me. Perhaps someone else could test it for you?

Links works ok. "Back" after clicking a link will get you where you where before clicking. |

Did you start on the second page and "followed" some links "down" some levels. I am asking because I got the explanation from PocketBook people that there is a difference in the links, some are relative and some are absolute and the PB360 has problem with this. Really good that the Opus has the history, back and forward But that's what can happen when to many features are added; some "basic" ones are forgotten.

One more "history" question; Does it work like on the Sony; that the history "remembers also the zoom/font level, so if you jump forward by a page jump then change zoom level, then use go back, the zoom/font level is "following" as it was at that page? |

The "back" function is what made me ditch the Pocketbook: I couldn't find it. The Opus has it, but no "forward" option that I could find. Also, I don't think it remembers the font size, but I can test it when I get back home tonight if you want.

No, it doesn't do that. But would you want it to? I can't think off-hand of any situation in which you'd want to use different zoom levels for different parts of a book.
