Ebook Sony Running slow

Hi I wonder if anybody knows why my e Reader Sony PRS-300 on some books keeps coming up with the formating symbol, and the pages take ages to turn these books are purchased from waterstones (uk) and are in EPUB format, I have tried shutting down completely , restoring default, but cannot seem to get any joy.

Unfortunately I don't have an answer but I've found the same thing with ePUB, including books I created myself. I use the Reader to read freely available ebooks and I've found the best format to be simple plain text.
