Sorry ladies, but....

I went to the Sony book store looking for new horror stories.

Is it possible to not see bare chested men EVERYWHERE?

http://ebookstore.sony.com/subject/horror

I would expect to see this in "Romance" or "Historical " stories, but in just about EVERY category?

Well, we female F & SF fans have had to put up with extensive T&A covers for decades. I remember one particularly absurd cover for "Dragonflight" with Lessa wearing next to nothing. My grandmother used to have to buy Playboy to get some of the best stuff back in the day. "The Fly" was originally published there, for instance.

What's good for the gander is good for the goose. Suck it up, pal!

For the record, I don't particularly care for the burly chested, washboard ab phenotype, myself. To each his/her own.

Perhaps you want to talk to the publishers or people who organize Sony library, gentleman . That book is a paranormal ROMANCE, so we don't have the nice almost-bare women at Robert E. Howard's books

ziegl027, my real complaint is that they didn't ask to use my picture.

Yes, bare chasted "whatever" covers always tend to cater to the immature. And at the time of that Dragonflight cover Anne Mccaffrey was a "new" witer and couldn't complain.

Secondary to the main complaint above is that teenage vampire and teenage werewolf stories along with historical romance novels belong in a romance listing. At least in a romance subsection.

I enjoy "real" historical fiction such as Under the Eagle by Simon Scarrow. Sometimes looking at the cover is the only way to distinguish "historical fiction" from "historical romance".

Well, then you should be THANKFUL for the barechested he-men, because they tell you not to bother with those books. Historically, anyway, the degree of cleavage shown or the tightness of a given leather outfit in the F & SF world was no help at all in seperating the good stuff from the soft-core porn crapola.

Now there's another gender gap. For men, it's "soft-core porn." For women, it's "romance".

I must confess, it was this "genre" that introduced me into the world of E-book readers. I first heard of them and bought my ebookwise as a result of stumbling across the Ellora's Cave website, which led me to Dale De's website about the ebookwise, then eventually to this site, which then led to me buying both an Ebookman 911 and recently a Astak Pocket Pro. An additonal part to this confession, I prefer now to buy the ebook versions to the pbook, because frankly the covers embarrass me....reading electronically prevents other people from noticing my "smut".

I'll have to add that one to my list of possible answers when people ask me "why do you prefer ebooks to 'real' books?"

He he he...Yeah you can use the quote anonymously (sometimes I am doomed to amuse). Back on topic, even though I read the "smut" I can understand the frustration of doing book searches and finding things "unexpected" shall we say? Unfortunately if the bookstore/vender doesn't have the correct metadata to begin with I'm not sure that any electronic searches will be effective.

Now I think that I am actually OT and answering HorridRedDog's other posting...aaahh the smut has rotted my brain! (And yes I do read a bunch of different stuff, especially thank to this list).
