[Tool] comic2kindle - Convert CBR/CBZ to Kindle-Optimized PDF (Open Source)

I'd like to share a tool I've been developing called comic2kindle.

For a long time, I struggled with reading my digital comics (CBR/CBZ files) on my Kindle Paperwhite. The pages were either too small in landscape mode or required constant panning and zooming in portrait mode.

To solve this, I built a tool that automates the process of splitting each comic page into three panels, rotating them to landscape, and centering them on a black background at the ideal resolution for Kindle (1264x1680 px).

The result is a PDF where every "page" is a full-screen panel, providing a remarkably comfortable reading experience.

Key Features:

Input: Supports CBR, CBZ, and image folders.

Output: Generates a single PDF optimized for Kindle.

Page Management: Mark pages as "Cover" or "Full Page" to prevent them from being split.

Visual Editor: Includes tools for manual margin cropping.

Quality Control: Export with high-quality (95%) or space-saving (80%) JPEG compression.

Cross-Platform: Available for Windows and Linux (AppImage and portable .exe).

Free & Open Source: Licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0.

While optimized for Kindle, the output PDFs are standard format and work on any e-reader (Kobo, PocketBook, etc.) and PDF reader.
