[Plugin] Stable Page Count – choose a target page count in KOReader

I’ve made a small KOReader plugin that changes the UX of the native “Stable page numbers” feature.

Instead of choosing an abstract “characters per page” value, you enter the stable page count you want. The plugin searches for the appropriate characters-per-page value and
then uses KOReader’s existing synthetic page-map system.

Features:
• Enter a desired stable page count
• Uses KOReader’s native page labels, navigation, bookmarks, and status information
• Shows the page count produced by KOReader’s default of 1500 characters per page
• Reports the closest available count when an exact result isn’t possible
• Preserves publisher-provided page number support

I’ve tested it on a Kindle with reflowable EPUB books. Testing on Kobo, Android, and other KOReader platforms would be very welcome.

Installation is just a matter of extracting pagecount.koplugin into KOReader’s plugins directory and restarting KOReader.

Can you make it so KOReader uses the same page count as ADE/RMSDK?

I think matching the total page count should be doable, but matching the exact page locations is a different story.

ADE counts pages from the compressed EPUB files, while KOReader counts characters, so even if both say 400 pages, page 100 might not be at the same spot.

There’s already an open KOReader issue about supporting the ADE algorithm properly: https://github.com/koreader/koreader/issues/14547

I could look into automatically calculating the ADE total and using that as the target.
