faking finishing a Kindle Unlimited book
From the comments I've seen here it sounds like authors don't get paid, or paid as much, if you return a Kindle Unlimited book and you didn't finish it. I download a lot of KU books and can tell if I'm going to like it to the end, and so many are returned early.

Does anyone know if it's possible to make Amazon think I read the whole book? For example, jumping to the last chapter and paging through it.

(TBH, I wouldn't think that anyone here would know unless they work for Amazon or know someone who does.)

AFAIK jumping around doesn't work. You'll need to page through the entire book, and not fast-flipping either.

Not possible or it would be used deliberately by some authors/publishers.

Buy the ebook and that properly pays the content provider. The KU pays less & from a pot decided by Amazon based on subscription numbers and pages read. Also not audited. Unlike real libraries Amazon also gets the content for free and can do unlimited simultaneous loans.

It was used deliberately in the beginning. So Amazon changed their rules and now jumping around or fast-flipping forward no longer works.

How much the author(s) get paid depends on how much of the book you've read. So even if you just read enough to know you don't like it, the author(s) will still get paid.

I've been told that if Amazon decides to check, they can and will deep-dive the data on every single page turn. If they catch the the pattern of unchanging time between page flips, there could be issues. Just sayin'....

There are other ways, but you have to be cautious and a bit creative. Patterrns can fry you.
