Can’t register my PW
Hadn’t used my PW in a very long time. It’s a 3G Gen6. It was jailbroken and had loads of great extras I’d added but for some reason now it’s crippled. I did a reset but now it refuses to be registered, which I need to do to re-break it. Keep getting:
“Unable to Connect - There was an error while registering your Kindle. Please try again later.” Anyone have an idea what gives here? THANKS! |

The 3G networks are gone, so you are permanently offline. I would think you could fake-register it, but don't know the details for that. You should be able to find directions on that with a search here.
You should still be able to side-load content via USB, but no Kindle store offline. Dave |

It should still work over WiFi.

I thought those came with either WiFi or 3G, but I might be wrong.

I think a few of the very early Paperwhites had both 3G and WiFi, but I have no idea which generations are which anymore. If their device was manufactured after 2012, it should still be supported. If so, sometimes there are hoops to be jumped through when providing a password for the registration process (especially if you have 2FA enabled on your Amazon account).
Entering your regular password followed directly by the one-time 2FA code sent to your phone or email is one of the suggestions given when trying to register older (but still supported) devices. |

I know the Kindle Keyboard was wifi-only.

I (regretably) skipped the KK, so I don't know the details. Since it was the first kindle with wifi I guess they hadn't decided to throw it in with cellular yet.

Kindle Keyboard was both with just Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G.
