Reading your Calibre library on iPhone and Mac

Hey all, I'm the developer of BookShelves (we have a subforum here). Calibre integration has been one of the most requested features from our MobileRead users, so I wanted to share what we've built and get feedback from Calibre users directly.

There are a few ways to connect:

Folder import -- point BookShelves at your Calibre library folder (local, iCloud Drive, Dropbox, wherever you keep it). It reads the folder structure and imports your books with covers and Calibre metadata intact -- authors, series, tags, descriptions, all pulled from your metadata.db. If you update metadata in Calibre, BookShelves picks up the changes on the next scan. Multiple formats per book? It picks the best one automatically (EPUB > MOBI > PDF).

Wireless sync -- BookShelves runs a Calibre-compatible wireless server (same protocol KOReader uses). In Calibre desktop, Connect/share > Connect to wireless device, and it shows up. Push books directly without cables.

OPDS -- BookShelves is both an OPDS client and server. Connect to any OPDS catalog to browse and download, or run your own OPDS server to share your library with other readers on your network.

Supported formats: EPUB, PDF, MOBI (auto-converted to EPUB at import), FB2, CBZ/CBR/CB7.

Once the books are in, you get reading progress synced across iPhone, iPad, and Mac via iCloud, highlights with export (Markdown, JSON, CSV), font weight control, scroll and paginated modes, and 10 built-in fonts including OpenDyslexic and Atkinson Hyperlegible.

To be clear about what this doesn't replace -- Calibre is still better at bulk metadata editing, plugins, format conversion breadth, and e-ink device management. BookShelves covers the reading side, not the library management side.
