Multiple "Duplicate file paths" warnings in OPF manifest - Is my EPUB corrupted?
Hi everyone,
I’m working with an EPUB I edited a few years ago using an older version of Sigil. I’m not sure if the version difference is the cause, but upon opening it today, I’m being flooded with a series of pop-up windows stating: Quote:
What should I do to fix this? Is there a risk that I’ve lost some of the content or images? Thanks in advance for your help! By the way, if I may make a suggestion: would you consider adding a "Close All" button for these pop-up cascades? Some EPUBs have a lot of JPEGs, and clicking through every single warning can be quite tedious. |

Not corrupted. There are just multiple duplicate item entries to image files in the manifest of your OPF file. You can manually (and carefully) remove any duplicates.
There should only be one item in the manifest pointing to each unique image name/path. The warning about duplicate file paths is a newer Sigil warning. An issue where an epub has an excessive amount of duplicate path entries in the manifest should really not be a common enough occurrence to need to provide a "Close All" button. The amount of images in the epub is not relevant. It's the fact that there seem to be many, many duplicate item entries in your OPF's manifest. Most never run into anything like that. My guess is that this epub was at some point in its life created from a consolidation of multiple books (that had duplicate image names) into one omnibus epub. Whatever tool was used to accomplish that should take such things into account if it wants to create compliant epubs. Last edited by DiapDealer; 03-26-2026 at 08:56 AM. |
