without Kobo Account: database disk image is malformed

Hi there,

i found several posts about this "database disk image is malformed" on Kobo devices. The most often hint is to logout from the local, on the Kobo reader, account and again sign in.

My Wife dosent use a kobo account on the devices she use.

Is there a way to "repair" the database without a kobo acount AND without the Kobo utilities plugin for Calibre?

The local device shows 123 books, connected via us to my linux box, the filebrowser shows 134 directories.

On a true Kobo device (ie not a Tolino) all that is required is to delete the KoboReader.sqlite file from the .kobo directory on the mounted file system.

After you get this repaired, create a Kobo account if you don't have one and register. Then you can log out if this ever happens again. However, if you use calibre, use Kobo Utilities to keep a backup of your database.
