Question Viewer bug: always open on a specific page

Since the 9.5 update of Calibre, when I open an ebook using the Calibre viewer, it is always opened on a specific page inside the ebook, not the last page I selected before closing the viewer.
For example, for one ebook, when I open the viewer, it will always be the title page, for another one the glossary etc... For some books I have been able to force it to open on the cover page by opening it and closing it on the cover page several times, but for others it doesn't seem to work.
I have no idea what can be causing it.

Doesnt reproduce for me, what OS? And you can try running in debug mode and see if any errors are printed out.

I am using Windows 11 Family. I have used the debug mode, the only errors I seem to get are :
Code:
DEBUG: 0.0 Annotations plugin: Error loading libiMobileDevice. This hasn't worked for a while, and is blacklisted in calibre v3.
DEBUG: 0.0 Annotations plugin: Error is: No module named 'calibre.devices.idevice'
I usually convert the ebooks and polish them, sometimes even edit the code to solve some hiccups in the conversion (mainly related to the cover becoming titlepage.xhtml). I don't know if it may impact the viewer in some ways.
Everything was fine before the 9.5 update, the settings were the same.

I did some more tests, by selecting the cover, closing, reopening, selecting another page, closing again and reopening, I managed to set it to the cover again, but it is quite weird. I turn pages by scrolling with the mouse or clicking on the contents sidebar.
Now, if I close at another page, it returns to the cover when I reopen the ebook. It looks like it gets stuck on a page at some point.

Edit: The "previous page" and "next page" buttons don't seem to work.

Works fine for me on win 11. One change is that it will only save the current page if you stay on it for a few seconds (IIRC 3-5). Are you jumping to apage and then immediately closing the viewer?

Oh man, you have found the culprit, thanks!
I was closing the window too quickly in my tests. Waiting a few seconds seems to have solved the problem. Now it stays on the last page where I stayed for a short duration. The change made me confused, sorry!
However, as said in my edit before I saw your reply, the "previous page" and "next page" buttons don't seem to work, now that I have tested them with all this. I click on them and nothing happens.

Edit: After a few tries, it is just me being too quick! Everything works fine, thanks again for your hard work!
