Fix out of order book - I must be missing something obvious
Downloaded a fanfic via fanficfare and due to various reasons the chapters are all out of order.
No problem, I'll just edit the ToC so the chapters are in the right order. Except editing the ToC only seems to apply for navigating the book by the ToC. If, for example, you reach the end of the chapter and hit 'next page' it will take you to the next file from the original order, not the next chapter as defined by the TOC. This is manageable I suppose, but I'd still like to actually fix the order. All of my files are unhelpfully named 'file0001','file0019', etc. To properly reorder the files, I'd have to manually compare the TOC, see what file it's linked to and then reorder that file to be where its supposed to be. It seems like this should've been an easy problem to solve, one that doesn't involve tediously figuring out that file0052 is actually chapter 2. Can I somehow reorder the file order to match the ToC? Or can I at least apply the ToC chapter names to the files so they're easier to reorder myself? |

The file browser in the left window. Are the files in the correct order there? If not, dragging each file to the correct position will fix the order in the opf.

Have you checked the book in the editor ? (menu tools / check book, or F7)
Sometime the elements are not linear, i.e. files are not in the order of the reading, but the opf gives the right order. Some devices may not understand this. So "check book" detects this and offers to make all files linear,. If it is this your problem, one click will solve it. |

It's kind of crazy to me that you can't a) rename files based on the ToC or b) reorder files to match ToC order. Quote:

Have a look at the Sigil plugins, there's one called TocSaver that hints a doing something like what you want.
