Troubleshooting My Kindle app has defaulted to Amazon JP and will not reset to Amazon US.

I cannot access any of my books. I don't know how this happened and resetting, signing out, deleting and reinstalling the app do not work.

Do you have an account at amazon.co.jp and amazon.com? Do they have the same email? If you do, make sure they have different passwords and you are using the correct password. I ran into this once when I accidentally logged in with my .co.jp account's password.

Are you buy chance on a Japanese VPN that you forgot to switch off?
Happens to me constantly once a week at least

Sign out and sign back in using the mobile phone number you have linked to your account. As the mobile number is based on country it should work. It happened to me once before and that’s how Amazon customer service directed me to get around it.
