I don't use OpenLibrary, and from what I've seen of the default Calibre plugin, it doesn't collect much data. I've created a plugin, which I won't be supporting in case any information on the OpenLibrary website changes. The only requirement is that it uses the identifier openlibrary:OL25898225M to collect the data. I hope you find it useful. Add it as a metadata download plugin.

Go to Calibre Portable\Calibre\plugins and delete any files related to OpenLibraryPlus. Try this version.

Thanks
Now it works only the _init_ file had the ending "txt", not "py" so I had to change it when downloading metadata it doesn't download the cover and publication date if someone else wants to use it, downloading metadata by ISBN doesn't work |

I tried to edit it but now it won't download the author or the image. But downloading by ISBN works and it downloads the publication date.

Remember your request from the first thread? It was to be able to use OpenLibrary identifiers because you didn't have ISBNs.
Now you're also asking for the plugin that worked with OpenLibrary identifiers to work with ISBNs. Well, here's the latest example that works with both ISBNs and OpenLibrary identifiers. Last edited by dunhill; 01-01-2026 at 02:35 PM. |

I don't want it to work with ISBN identifiers, when I tried to fix the plugin to download covers, I managed to do it even though it wasn't my intention, but maybe it will help someone else.... I need it to download basic information such as author, publication date, cover, etc. when I add a book with the openlibrary style:OL37046802M
