Will this temp file prevent my Kindle Oasis (2019) from updating?
update.bin.tmp.partial

I just got a message that there is not enough room to download a file on my Kindle Oasis (2019) The file has a name, but I can't remember the name of the file. I quickly turned off WiFi.

I have no other books purchased, so it must be THE dreaded update - perhaps? I'm currrently on Version 5.18.2

That is the (self explanatory) name of the firmware update file. Prior to firmware 5.11.x a directory with that name prevented firmware updates. In firmware 5.10.x unactivated code to forcibly remove that directory was added. At some point after that the code was made fully operational. So never a possibility on the Oasis 3.

Oh, and that is the file that there is no room for, so that will be your protection against updates but it also makes it difficult to add books.

So I am stuck with having an Oasis 3 that can never be blocked, just so long as I keep the memory (somewhat) full.

A new jailbreak has been supposedly imminent for some time. So far, it has always been possible to prevent firmware updates on jailbroken kindles.

Your Oasis 3 should be done updating at 5.18.2 anyway. Right now, only 11th gen and newer Kindles are getting updates beyond that: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo...MQC26VQQMM8XSW

If you can get the name of the file we could tell if it really is another unlisted update or not.
