				Resolution of Kobo Comics

I bought a few comics from IDW on the Kobo website and have been trying to download them both to my reader and to the Kobo Desktop app, but whichever way I do it, it seems like the downloaded comic is significantly smaller than the filesize that's listed on, say, Amazon for the same book. Is there a way to be sure I'm downloading a book at maximum quality? |

I don't believe Kobo does any resampling of the images the way Kindle will. It's always what the publisher provides, for better or worse. I've got a copy of Satoshi Kon's Opus from Kobo (which has seemingly been delisted!), which was about 350mb in size and has a resolution per page of 1444x2072. Very high-quality. By the same token, I have an early epub version of The Supreme and the resolution is garbage (546x816), but then, the upload date on that one was 2011ish. |

Hm, yeah, I got the oversized first volume of the Sonic comics and it's not terrible but the filesize is about 125MB and Amazon lists it as being about a gigabyte for the same book. Obviously a gigabyte is impractically huge so it's possible that I got the better-optimized end of the deal.

Yeah, I'm familiar with that practice which is why I wondered if Kobo did the same thing, but apparently they don't.
